To the medical student

International Medical Students

The final year clinical electives in the Department of Clinical Radiology offers international students the opportunity to experience Japanese foundation/residency training at one of Japan’s leading medical centers. Our department provides opportunities to rotate around subspecialty departments including diagnostic radiology, ultrasound, interventional radiology and nuclear medicine and therapeutic radiology. Students with specific learning objectives for their experience would be able to arrange a meeting with the supervisor to discuss specific details.

Upon completion of the clinical elective, students should be able to:
1. demonstrate competence in presenting chest & abdominal x-rays and CTs.
2. understand the indications and contraindications for CT/MRI contrast.
3. give a clinical case presentation on a topic of choice (either in Japanese or English).
4. form differential diagnoses from radiological imaging.
5. make a rational decision regarding the selection of this specialty as a vocation

This is an example of the timetable during the stay at our department. Schedule can be readily modified according to student’s requests. Students are asked to give small presentation (on a clinical-case/research) during the weekly meeting or during a lunch time lecture in their final week.
